Gregory Marchwinski

Mr. Marchwinski is Red Lambda's Chief Executive Officer and a distinguished executive manager with a strong background in designing, building and successfully operating managed services in both networking and storage technologies. Gregory has a proven track record in growing technology oriented businesses from start-up to profitability.

Gregory started his career as a data communications consultant developing network input/output systems and line drivers for Paradyne Corporation. From there, Gregory worked as a consultant for AT&T shortly after their divestiture. He was responsible for designing and developing software for a large Unix based system used by the AT&T Service Fleet. The system included remote, hand-held wireless devices used to dispatch technicians and capture data from the job site for immediate billing and inventory control. From consulting, Gregory moved to his first start-up company which was a venture funded by EDS. He led the software engineering department with the development of real-time operating systems and networking systems to control and direct advanced machinery used on the factory floor at General Motors. In this position, Gregory also worked as a beta test site for Intel Corporation and their new processors and computer bus systems.

Gregory then joined AT&T as an architect in a distributed Unix development group. He quickly helped the team optimize several applications to function more efficiently and take better advantage of available network bandwidth. From this position, Gregory became the primary Information Technology (IT) Architect for the sales and marketing organization of AT&T. In this capacity, he was responsible for the design and implementation of a large-scale project that included the network and computing infrastructure design to support the movement of all sales personnel to a virtual office environment. During this period of time, Gregory was identified as a high potential executive management candidate and placed on a fast track program. He then moved into a Senior Technology Manager position responsible for evaluating information technologies that supported the entire Business Communication Services organization in both distributed and centralized client/server environments and the associated local & wide area networks. In this role, Gregory was responsible for setting corporate wide standards in the area of computing platforms and network services. He supported in excess of 35,000 personnel through IT work activities. Gregory was also chosen as a leader in the corporate wide foundation architecture team as part of the Chief Information Officer team where he helped direct total budget responsibility exceeding $1 billion.

Gregory was then promoted to a Senior Director in the AT&T Managed Network Services organization. As an early member of this business line, Gregory created and staffed a network engineering organization to support the Managed Network Services customer offers. His teams' primary responsibilities included the physical and logical architectural design and implementation of multi-protocol data networks for over 250 global AT&T customers. Gregory personally planned & executed the physical build out, staffing and organizational design of an entire division encompassing over 85 staff members with direct control of a $10 million annual budget. Gregory helped grow the business from a single custom contract to a managed services organization supporting over 12,000 total network sites that generated billed revenue in excess of $175 million per year.

Gregory then accepted a Vice-President of Global Services position with California based start-up company, Sanrise Incorporated. As an initial member of the executive management team, Gregory was responsible for building a managed storage services company from inception. He provided organization and leadership skills with the design, build and staffing of the Global Services organization. Gregory grew the team to 75 members in 4 worldwide regions in support of an international customer base. Gregory developed detailed business contracts and full Service Level Agreements to win large global managed service deals with fortune 100 customers and grew Sanrise revenue from start-up to approximately $18 million annually. Gregory also carried out complete investigation and due diligence with the acquisition of a Storage Services company and managed the complex integration and transition process of the acquired assets, human resources and intellectual property.

From Sanrise, Gregory joined Sun Microsystems as a Senior Executive Manager in the Global Storage Practice. He was charged with creating Sun Managed Storage Services from inception to delivery. Through the creation of the service, Gregory helped change the service model from a maintenance services to a recurring revenue model with multi-year customer contracts in the area of advanced services and solutions. In order to get to market quickly, Gregory helped with a $50 million acquisition of a services and technology company. After the purchase, Gregory served as the integration executive in charge of merging the acquired company into Sun Microsystems. He provided guidance on all aspects of integration including convergence of technology strategies, service roadmaps, marketing plans and service delivery infrastructures. Gregory's final assignment with Sun Microsystems involved the $4.4 billion acquisition of StorageTek. Gregory helped with the pre-close services acquisition process including due diligence, analysis and purchase contract modification. After the purchase was closed, Gregory then helped with the integration of the StorageTek managed services business line into Sun's existing organizational structure.

Gregory received a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics / Computer Science from Carnegie-Mellon University. He earned a Master's in Business Administration from Rollins College.
