ICAC Web Site Hosts Information About COPA Commission
The mission of the Internet Caucus Advisory Committee (ICAC) is to assure Informed decision-making by policymakers and provide vehicles for Internet policy education. The Congressionally appointed Commission on Online Child Protection ("COPA Commission") has convened and, per its Congressional charter, has begun the study of "methods and technologies to help reduce access by minors to material on the World Wide Web that is harmful to minors." The Commission will submit a report to Congress by November 30, 2000 on its findings. The COPA Commission will hold three hearings and will gather copious amounts of information on the subject in the course of its study.
The COPA Commission inquiry is an important one. The ICAC intends to track the Commission's work and make parts of its study available online so that the public and policymakers can see its progress. The ICAC staff will work closely with the COPA Commission to ensure that public materials reviewed by the Commission have an online outlet. This information will be available in a central repository at http://www.copacommission.org. We hope that you, Members of Congress and other policymakers will find this information valuable.
